Must be a citizen of the United States of America.

Must be born female, single, never married, have never conceived
a child, and be of good character.

Must be a resident of the State of Texas for the past six (6)
months or a student of an accredited Texas college or University
for at least one (1) full semester enrolled in a minimum of
twelve (12) semester hours or the maximum required for the
degree plan chosen.

Must (a) be at least seventeen (17) years of age at the time of
your first appearance in the preliminary round of the local or
state competition and (b) be no older than twenty-four (24)
years of age on December 31, 2008.

Must be a High School Senior by the time of your first
appearance in preliminary round of the local or state
competition and can or will be able to produce a diploma as
proof thereof upon request or that you have or will have
successfully completed the G.E.D. testing program for high
school equivalency and can or will produce proof thereof upon
request or have or will have successfully completed the academic
requirements for entry into a four year college/degree program.

If you held a Miss America local title during the 2007 pageant
season and either resigned your title or lost your title for
some reason, you may not be eligible to compete in a Miss
America local pageant again until the 2009 pageant season.

You may NOT compete in a Miss Texas/Miss America preliminary
pageant: If you competed at a local Miss USA pageant for their
current pageant year and either won a local USA title or went on
to the state USA competition as an "at large" titleholder (paid
for the title) for their current pageant year. In this case, you
will not be eligible to compete in a local Miss Texas pageant
(Miss America) for one (1) complete pageant year.

Miss America has officially partnered with the Children's
Miracle Network to develop a National Platform. The National
Platform starts at the local pageant level with the 2008 pageant
year. Each contestant must secure a $100.00 donation in her name
to the Children’s Miracle Network in order to compete in the
local pageant.

Interviews will be 9 minutes long. There will not be opening,
but an optional closing statement.

franchise of the Miss Texas Scholarship Organization and the
Miss America Organization. We are committed to helping young
women achieve excellence and providing positive growth

build confidence, cultivate skills, promote healthy living and
serve the community as they earn scholarships toward their
scholastic goals.
